Montego Bay, Jamaica- Soak up the Sun, Excitement, Music and Romance

Montego Bay, nickednamed MoBay, is the second largest city in Jamaica and its name originated during the period of time when its Spanish port exported beef, leather and lard. A historically preserved gem of Montego Bay  is the Rose Hall Great House, an English-style sugar plantation open for public tourism. The city is encrusted with an expanse of low-set mountain ranges and beautiful tropical beaches. Tourists flock to this city for its warm climate and tax-free shopping, making it one of the more popular travel destinations in the Caribbean.  The main tourist area is the ‘Hip Strip’ on Gloucester Avenue. The Hip Strip is settled on a bay saturated with coral reefs and beaches.

What to do in Montego Bay? Croydon on the Mountains is a modern-day functioning plantation in the foothills of the Catadupa Mountains. The plantation setting gives tourists a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside filled with exotic plant life, rugged mountainous terrain and serene waterfalls. Take a tour of this lush scenery while trying tropical fruits and drinks made on site. The world’s most famous coffee, Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee,  and BBQ lunch are provided on this tour as well.

MoBay Undersea Tours provide tourists with an undersea adventure in the hull of a submarine vessel. Tourists will gaze upon panoramic views of the Montego Bay Marine Park and have a professional tour guide explain the natural wonders of the reef. During the trip, the vessel will stop to catch a glimpse of scuba divers feeding the marine life that inhabits the reef.

Chukka ATV  or Jeep Safari provides travelers with a dry-land experience through the rugged mountain terrain of Montego Bay. You will soar 700 feet above sea level with a pit-stop at Mount Zion to experience their historical slave hospital and local bar scene.  After your journey through the mountains, try a Canopy or Zipline tour through Montego Bay’s exotic rainforest! Decks and platforms are carefully arranged throughout the rainforest to provide you the thrill of a lifetime over the Great River.  The Luminous Lagoon is another famous body of water in Montego Bay, outside of Falmouth. The water illuminates when it is disturbed providing a glowing spectacle of marine life.

Be sure to experience Reggae and Rastafarian culture in the home of iconic Rastafarian, Bob Marley! The Rastafari Indigneous Village Rastafari Experience provides tourists with a guided tour through Montego River Gardens.  The tour guides lead you to an authentic and heavily populated Rastafarian village where you will be able to have a discussion with Rastafari families about their practices and herbal gardens.
