Want to See America in Relaxation and Luxury?

Want to See America in Relaxation and Luxury?
The Great American Queen Steamboat:

Got on the ship at the Cincinnati Pier. The American Queen Steamboat is a Beautifully restored Victorian style ship with the feel of the “Turn of the Century”. Show was the Memphis Suns – re-enacting Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis and Johnny Cash. It was a great show. Dinner was gourmet and delicious – Shrimp and avocado appetizer, crab corn chowder, salad, grilled catfish (I am in the South, y’all), had a mint julep for the first time, at the cocktail party. Enjoyed the pecan pie for dessert. Danced the night away at the Engine Room bar with the great band. 400 passengers total. I am getting very relaxed and this is only Day One — Very relaxing cruise. It moves at about 8 mph and your body naturally slows down and relaxes. Every night we would receive the River Times in our stateroom that gave us the history and highlights of tomorrow’s ports, plus all of the special activities onboard the boat. Something very unique and wonderful on this boat – there is a Riverlorian who gives talks and answers questions about the history and ecology of the river and the towns. Also unique is the Hop on/off bus. You select a time to hop on and go at your own pace and see what you want to see. When on vacation I like to sleep in and go at my own pace. It allows for total independence while maximizing the amount of time spent. Something else for “active” travelers: You can take out bicycles for your own tours. Adding to the allure of the Steamboat and it’s era: Whenever we departed a port the giant calliope would play several tunes. It was great to see people waving us hello and goodbye from each port. It was exciting for them to see this wonderful steamboat at their port town. There is an spa, salon and small wading swimming pool and fitness center onboard as well. Plus the Front Porch has 24/7 snacks (hot dogs, fruit, popcorn, chips), ice cream and beverages. It was a godsend when I got back to the boat each day after my tours to be able to cool down with delicious ice cream and fruit. Also nice to know you get a midnight snack at 3am if you want one! Follow the blog to each river town I visited…

Onboard the boat I met some people who have done the Steamboat cruises for 20 or more times. They absolutely love it and I can see why.
