Istanbul Turkey is a very popular destination along the Mediterranean. It is on my bucket list. My daughter Samantha had the wonderful opportunity to visit Istanbul for a week. I remember her great stories of the Blue Mosque, the amazing spice bazaar, the whirling dervishes and the delicious fried cheese. Here’s a how-to visit the sites from Conde Nast Traveler:
Istanbul: Is the largest city in Turkey and the third largest metro area in Europe. It was chosen to the European Capital of Sports for 2012. Here’s what to do in Istanbul to see it like a native: Stoll along the Istiklal Caddesi, a no-traffic street. Go up the Galata Tower and watch the city view. Sweat it out at a Turkish bath. Check out the second hand shops on Rumeli Passage. Take the 2nd oldest funicular from Pera to Galata. Enjoy at live concert at Babylon or Hayal Kahvesi, stroll around the fish bazaar, Balik Pazari.
